At the moment, stock disc options are:
5″ – 1.5mm black / 2mm black, white, translucent red or transparent
7″ – 1.5mm black / 2mm black, white, translucent red or transparent
8″ – 2mm black, white, translucent red or transparent
10″ – 2mm black, white, translucent red or transparent
12″ – 2mm black, white, translucent red or transparent
The 1.5mm thick black discs have recently been very ‘variable’ in quality recently, and I’ve stopped offering them in any sizes larger than 7″ as a result . A lot of people feel that a 2mm 7″ feels ‘wrong’ – too heavy and thick – so I still offer 1.5mm black 7s, but please ask me what I think of the current stocks before deciding, as they do vary in quality…
7″s are available with standard centre holes or the larger ‘jukebox’ sized holes, no difference in cost there. Discs come in white poly-lined inner sleeves, and blank labels can be supplied on a sheet or printed/applied if you require (see the FAQ about this). Note that the 8″ discs don’t come in any sort of outer sleeve as they just don’t exist off the shelf. 5″ discs fit nicely in those transparent CD pocket things with the flap.
I can actually get any size disc made, but I can’t realistically cut anything bigger than a 14″ or smaller than a 4″. Lots of things won’t play them back, either.
1mm-thick transparent semi-flexi discs may be back on the menu, but check with me first…
Also note that 10” prices quoted here are for discs making full use of the space, a four tracker, mini album or whatever, probably running at 33rpm, 10-12 minutes per side perhaps. If you’re after more of a 10″ single (i.e. one track per side that just falls outside of fitting on a 7″, running at 45rpm) then it can be cheaper. Tell me what you’ve got and I’ll tell you what I can do for you.
Why aren’t any prices listed yet for 12″ discs?
Yeah, I know I’ve had years to sort this out, but I’ve been busy. Honest. Please get in touch for more details as they’re quite difficult to price up, running time is the major factor (an LP length cut will be more than a 6 minute 12″ single, basically) but I’ll do my best to make things viable.
For example: A 38 minute one-off LP with labels printed plus inner sleeve is going to cost you about £40+post. Yes, that’s a lot of money, I know… but it’s a (deep breath) ‘bespoke and hand-crafted product’, and it’s still less than a re-issue of bloody Parklife by Blur is going to cost at HMV. (No, I will not make you a copy of Parklife by Blur for £40, or even for £400.) On a run of 20 LPs, which is about as far as I can go before my sanity starts to break down, we might be down to £19-£20 per disc. If you wanted substantially more than this (40, 50) then you really would be better off talking to a pressing plant, as you might be able to get a run of 100 done for around £12-ish each in printed sleeves. Might as well be honest, eh?
Hang on… you want more than 40 copies of something? It’s not out of the question at all, in fact 50 7s is quite normal these days, but I have to take them on a case by case basis. Again, email me and we can discuss things. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Oh yeah, you probably guessed already, but postage and packaging is extra. In mainland UK, that could range from a couple of quid for one 7″ in a mailer, up to £30-odd via the Post Office for 100 7″s sent first class insured. I can happily send overseas, but it’ll cost what it costs. I use recycled packaging wherever possible ‘cos I detest waste, and they’ll always be well protected. I’ll always try and get stuff to you in the most economical way, and I won’t scalp you in the process, but I’d prefer not to use ‘cheap’ couriers who might stick your expensive records straight in your recycling bin on recycling bin collection day…
